The Beginning…

Hello. I’m Caryn Fischer, partner in Fischer Williams Photographic Studios.  A little bit about how this got started for me.  The beginning of Fischer Williams photo studio was the day my new husband came home from his well established job at the United States Senate and told me he wanted to move to Massachusetts and become a photographer. I had always known he loved photography and was very good, but this was news to me!

Still learning about my new husband and married life, I decided this was just a whim and would pass (as my whim’s usually do…) I soon learned one of Alex’s greatest qualities….determination.

Within a year we were in Massachusetts and Fischer Williams had it’s start. Back then it was called AFischer Photography and it mostly consisted of landscape photos and a website. There was little time for a business with one young child and another on it’s way. We were also in a small town with few opportunities, but Alex applied for as many photo jobs as he could from the little there was and he booked his first wedding!

I remember the day he came home from meeting his first clients, it was as if he knew them! He spoke of them like they were friends, not clients. He remembered mother’s and father’s names and where the couple met. I loved that he was giving this couple a better experience and service than just being a “picture taker”. God! Did I hear so much about that wedding! I felt like I was there. And his pictures were really good! I started to think this thing could really become something. We revamped our website, started to do more portraits and events and became Fischer Williams Photography. But we, as a family of now four, needed our family, so we moved to New York. Now having more opportunity to work and hone his craft, Alex’s work has become more than I ever thought was possible! I think he would agree I am his biggest critic and ask nearly impossible things of him at times. And each time he delivers.

Even now, having done so many wedding, portraits and events, he still comes home and tells me all about the people and remembers all the details about the story behind an event. I guess that’s the difference between doing your job and LOVING your job. Although it’s not as stable as his job in D.C. was, it’s an amazing thing helping someone see their dream come true. I am honored to be a part of it. I hope you enjoy the pictures you see on our newest version of the website. It’s ever changing as we do more work and we look forward to capturing your special moments in the future!

Till next time….Happy Holidays!
